CliMates is an international association of students whose goal is to research, debate and find innovative solutions in the fight against climate change. Currently, the group is calling for interested university students around the world to join this network, and its conference in Paris in 2012.
CliMates is a platform for cooperation between students from all over the world through which we can take charge on the problems surrounding this world phenomenon, through debates and proposing our own solutions to the great dilemma of the 21st Century.
The Climates project will develop around three main phases:
1. The creation of an international network of students that will be represented through national delegations that will present the position of their country throughout the project.
2. The production of serious and focused research on the different themes tied to the larger problems faced by climate change, (for example, energy, natural disasters, migration, etc.) Each delegation will have take into account the constraints and realities of their country to propose the most plausible solutions possible. A further guarantee will be brought by the review of the members of the Research Team of CliMates and by experts in the field, brought on board for the purposes of this project.
3. A conference will be held, uniting all the participating delegations in Paris in the Fall of 2012, with the aim of conducting negotiations to produce an international final document on the climate, with its conclusions being presented to the 18th COP (Conference of the Parties) of the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change).
