WWF Vietnam Country Programme is one country component of the WWF Greater Mekong and is the implementing arm for projects in Vietnam mainly in Central Annamites, Southern Annamites and the Mekong Delta. Our major activities focus on Freshwater, Forestry, Marine and Aquaculture, Agriculture and Agroforestry, Policy and Advocacy.
WWF and three other development partners have joined forces in the Wetlands Alliance (WAP) to work towards a common approach to building the skills needed to ensure that wetland ecosystems and aquatic resources are used in a more sustainable way for the benefit of the poor whose livelihoods and food security depends on them. With supports from SIDA since 2005, the alliance has engaged about 50 local partners in eight geographical areas in Cambodia, Lao, Thai Lan, and Vietnam. From 2011 the alliance has expanded its presence in Myanmar.
They are currently seeking for an well-qualified and experienced Vietnamese candidate to fill a full-time position of WAP OFFICER. The position will be based in Quang Nam province, Vienam with frequent travel to project sites when required.
Main responsibilities:
The position of WAP Quang Nam Provincial Officer is to support WWF Vietnam in providing backstopping inputs to local partners in Quang Nam and the overall development of WAP initiatives in Vietnam.
Qualifications and Experience:
– Bachelor’s degree or higher fisheries, aquaculture, community development, or in relevant fields
– A minimum of 3 years experience working on conservation and development in Vietnam
– Experience of working and negotiating with Government officials at all levels
– Proven understanding of issues of relevance to wetlands conservation and poverty reduction
– Basic knowledge of environmental and conservation issues in Vietnam is an advantage
– Experience of working in multi-cultural environment is an advantage
– Fluency in written and spoken English and local languageAbility to work on own initiative with minimum supervision and to stay on task
– Networking skills, and proven capability to work well with government counterparts and private sector.
– Very good skills in use of MS Word, Excel, Power Point
