Lecturer in International Bachelor programme – Deliver courses for BA Economics (Money, Banking & Finance)
I. Programme brief
The BA Economics (Money, Banking & Finance) is the collaborative programme in cooperation between Hanoi National Economics University (NEU) and University of the West of England (UWE), the UK. This is the first international undergraduate programme in Vietnam. NEU initiated this programme in an effort to enhance education in the field of economics which is crucial for a developing country like Vietnam.
Students will be granted the Bachelor degree by UWE after completing 3 years studying at NEU. All teaching, learning and administrative processes of the programme must meet quality requirements of UWE.

The programme will start in September 2011 for Year 1 with 6 modules. Each module is a year-long module, divided into two terms, each term includes 12 weeks. The teaching hours are 2 hours per week over a period of 12 weeks during the first term, from September to December 2011 and over 12 weeks during the second term from January to April 2012.
II. Objectives
The objectives of the position are:
– To deliver the course offered during the academic year 2011-2012
– To provide professional training, support for students to achieve the requirements of the course.
II. Tasks
In consultation and collaboration with module coordinator and in accordance with the tasks outlined in this term of reference, the lecturer will:
1. Prepare lecture notes, work scheme and indentify appropriate resources available that are relevant to the module to be taught. Modules outlines and existing resources related to the teaching module will be provided to the lecturer.
2. Deliver lectures according to the schedule given by the programme.
3. Prepare an assessment plan (method of assessment, due dates, feedback dates…)
4. Design and develop module relevant assessments (take-home assignment, examination, group work, project or presentation…)
5. Work with tutors across a range of related issues including:
- The development of the module and assessment plan
- The monitoring of student progress (attendance, performance, assignments…)
6. Be responsible for assessing and grading assignments/examinations.
7. Be available for student consultation according to the programme regulation.
8. Monitor student attendance.
9. Coordinate with the programme coordinator to decide on students’ eligibility for the final module assessment.
10. Attend lecturer meetings held by the programme manager.
III. Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for lecturers’ position, the following criteria must be demonstrated:
– Minimum Master Degree in Economics/Business (Finance)
– Experience in teaching in international environment
– Fluent in written and spoken English
– Excellent interpersonal skills
– Familiar with Microsoft Office Programs
IV. Duration & remuneration
The lecturer position will be available to commence the position in September 2011, either part-time or full-time.
In terms of part-time mode, lecturers will be paid based on the number of teaching hour, ranging from USD 60-75 per hour, depending on the quality of teaching.
In terms of full-time mode, lecturers will be paid from USD 2400-3100 per month (including accomodation) and one return air ticket a year, with the work load of 15 hours per week (including teaching & office hours), depending on the quality of teaching.
