UNICEF Viet Nam is looking for a team of consultants or an institution (including one international consultant as the team leader and at least two national consultants) for assessment of the impacts of climate change on the WASH sector and vulnerability of children and of climate change adaption options.
Objectives:
– To analyse Government strategies, programmes and key stakeholders on the issues of climate change, children and WASH, and particularly their intersection.
– To understand the vulnerabilities of the WASH sector in relation to climate change and the effects on children, women, and the poorest and rural vulnerable groups including ethnic minority groups.
– To identify the gaps in knowledge in the WASH sector in relation to climate change adaptation and related institutional capacity gaps, including methods for mainstreaming climate change into WASH sector strategies, plans and actions.
– To make recommendations to the Government on how to increase WASH sector resilience to climate variability, as well as how to support the resilience of children, women, and the poorest and rural vulnerable groups through specific climate change adaptation measures and social protection mechanisms including on costed climate change adaptation options.
Qualifications and experience required:
01 international consultant:
– Advanced degree in environmental science or related discipline.
– At least 10 years of professional experience in international development, including environment and rural water supply and environment.
– Substantial knowledge of and experience with climate change adaptation actions
– Substantial publication record.
– Strong verbal communication / presentation skills in English.
– Excellent writing skills.
– Advanced computer skills.
– Ability to work productively with government counterparts and NGOs in a multi-cultural environment.
– Good health and willingness to travel if required.
02 national consultants:
– Advanced degree in environmental science or related discipline.
– At least 6 years of professional experience, especially on environment and rural water supply and environment.
– Strong communication skills in Vietnamese and English in writing and verbally.
– Knowledge of climate change is an advantage.
– Advanced computer skills.
– Ability to work productively with government counterparts and NGOs in a multi-cultural environment.
– Good health and willingness to travel if required.
