Every year VVOB offers a limited number of talented young Vietnamese (under)graduate students the opportunity to temporarily participate in the implementation of its programme.
Students get hands-on and practical experience in various aspects of development work and in the specific technical niches of the VVOB programme, guided by experienced national and international colleagues.
1. THE PROGRAMME

The current education programme aims to improve the quality of lower secondary education in 5 provinces of North and Central Vietnam (Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh, Nghe An, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai) through an integrated support to the Active Teaching and Learning (ATL) change processes by means of EE and ICT.
In support of the programme ‘Friendly Schools, Active Students 2008-2013’ and anticipating on proposed measures in the Education Development Strategic Plan 2011-2020, VVOB is collaborating with teacher training institutes in introducing innovative teaching and learning methods to teacher trainers and future teaching staff. The ultimate goal of the interventions is to improve the quality of lower secondary education in
Within the wider framework of ‘Active Teaching and Learning (ATL)’, a number of specific innovative teaching and learning methods have been selected in consultation with stakeholders. A series of training modules on these methods are being developed and introduced in the partner institutes, in cooperation with these institutes and a number of national experts. The different modules which follow a similar training approach will gradually constitute an ATL Training Package. In support of and building on the methodological work, a basic course on Environmental Education is under development and will be introduced starting from October 2010.
2. TASKS
The selected intern is expected to fulfill the following tasks:
• Collect and update databases related to developed human resources, organized capacity building activities and available national expertise
• Screen, assess and select audiovisual materials and lessons plans on environmental education
• Assist in the monitoring of the implementation of mini-projects by teacher trainers
• Provide translation and logistical support to the programme team
• Contribute to the newsletter and the website of VVOB Vietnam
• Any other tasks where the intern can contribute to
3. QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
• (Under)graduate student in education; specialization in teaching methodology is an asset
• Demonstrated knowledge of issues related to environment and sustainable development is preferable
• Good understanding of the Vietnamese education system
• Knowledge of and/or experience in using ICT applications for teaching
• Dedicated to innovative approaches in education
• Able to work independently
• Good IT skills
• Advanced communication skills in English
4. CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
This is a non-remunerated internship. The intern will receive an allowance to cover travel expenses from home to work. VVOB covers all costs related to travel and board during field missions, if any.
