The Project “Strengthening the Capacity of the Vietnam Lawyers’ Association” is looking for international consultant/senior trainer to assist the Vietnam Lawyers’ Association in design and conducting a training programme “Legal Empowerment and Local Initiatives” for the VLA’s Legal Consultancy Centres (LCCs) in order to facilitate better understanding on the legal empowerment approach, methodologies for identification and matching local needs with new initiatives to improve access to justice to the poor and disadvantage.
The overall objective of the training is to provide tools to those legal assistance providers who have the energy and ambition to step up their legal consultancy/education programs – including the ability to formulate proposals to donors for funding to support legal empowerment of their local community. After completing the programme, the participants are expected to acquire the following:
– Improved knowledge about important and advantage of legal empowerment and how to implement legal empowerment approach in legal assistance/aid to the poor and disadvantage;
– Improved knowledge on cross-cutting issues related to bottom-up legal aid, including: gender and rights perspectives, legal aid in support of local governance;
– Developed legal aid proposals/projects to work on as part of the programme and potential post-project follow-ups;
The selection will be based on a competitive basis and will comply with UNDP procurement regulations.
