Family Health International (FHI) in Vietnam manages a diverse and expanding portfolio of public health and development programming, capacity building, and research. With funding support from USAID and the CDC, FHI is a partner of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), focusing on capacity building in HIV prevention, care, and treatment for most-at-risk populations. FHI also supports the Ministry of Health and local research organizations in a variety of research projects and clinical trials in the areas of HIV, malaria, avian influenza, and nutrition. We are also expanding into other diverse areas such as drug treatment and addictions counseling, tobacco control, and laboratory strengthening.

FHI is currently seeking a dynamic leader and management professional for the position of Deputy Director for the country office in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Deputy Director (ID number 1206)

Main Responsibilities:
The Deputy Director will be responsible for the overall management and supervision of several program units of the FHI office in Vietnam. Current units include: Prevention; Care and Treatment; HIV and Drug Use; Clinical, epidemiologic, and behavioral research; and Finance and Administration. The units responsible to the Deputy Director will be determined in consultation with the Country Director. The Deputy will provide support and guidance in capacity building, the development of innovative evidence-based interventions, quality assurance, trouble-shooting, and donor relations. An important responsibility of this position will be to further develop FHI’s health systems strengthening (HSS) approach in the context of Vietnam and to transform existing programs so that they support and respond to a HSS strategic framework. 

Minimum Requirements:

·        Management acumen and skills to thrive in a working environment characterized by change and dynamism

·        Masters degree in public health, management, or a related field

·        At least 6 years experience in a senior management position, including staff supervision, with an organization that manages complex health and development projects, preferably in the area of HIV/AIDS

·        Familiarity with HIV prevention, care, and treatment technical areas, preferably at least one at a high degree of technical competence and experience

·        At least 3 years experience in health systems strengthening, involving government health systems, preferred 

·        Experience with USAID and CDC rules and regulations preferred  

·        Knowledge of working-level Vietnamese preferred
