FAMILY HEALTH INTERNATIONAL (FHI) is an international non-governmental organization that works with the Vietnam Ministry of Health, other ministries, provincial health services, and local non-government organizations to promote the health and well-being of the Vietnamese population, particularly vulnerable and disenfranchised groups. FHI is currently building the capacity of local organizations in HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment; drug treatment and rehabilitation strategies; clinical research for the development of vaccines and drugs for infectious diseases; tobacco control; and laboratory strengthening.
We are currently seeking qualified, experienced and highly motivated Vietnamese nationals to join FHI/Vietnam for the following positions based in Hanoi and Hochiminh City:
1. Program Officer – Care and Treatment, Hanoi based
The position will be responsible for developing, managing, and monitoring comprehensive HIV/AIDS care, support, and treatment projects supported by FHI. In addition, the position will be a focal point for the respective technical areas in (1) Nutrition and Social Support and (2) Pediatrics and Prevention-of-Mother-to-Child-Transmission (PMTCT).
Successful candidates will have the following qualifications and abilities:
• Medical doctor (MD), preference for specialization in infectious diseases with knowledge of HIV clinical care and ARV treatment
• Two years or comparable professional experience in providing medical care, preferably to people-living-with-HIV (PLHIV). Demonstrated skills and knowledge in holistic and client-centered care
• Knowledge and experience in epidemiology and/or STI clinical management in resource-poor settings would be advantageous
2. Program Officer – Drug Use Interventions, Treatment and Capacity Building, Hanoi based
The position will be responsible for supporting the monitoring and implementation of (1) Methadone Maintenance Therapy (MMT) and (2) drug addiction capacity building
Successful candidates will have the following qualifications and abilities:
• Medical doctor (MD), preferably a Masters degree in social sciences or public health field.
• Two years experience in the designing and implementing HIV/AIDS care and treatment projects, preferably including the introduction of ARV and Methadone Maintenance therapy, in developing countries.
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge and skills with a culturally-sensitive approach to local counterpart organizations to build in-country capacity in treatment, care and support for MMT/HIV.
3. Program Officer – Male Sexual Health, Hochiminh City based
The position will be responsible for supporting the management and implementation of Male Sexual Health (MSH) interventions and research – specifically targeting men-who-have-sex-with-men (MSM) – as well as coordinating and working with implementing partners/agencies in project design, proposal development, contractual agreements, provision of monitoring and technical visits and project evaluation.
Successful candidates will have the following qualifications and abilities:
• Bachelor degree in Public Health or Social Sciences, and Masters Degree in public health is a plus
• Two year experience in public health, HIV/AIDS or development programs in Vietnam, especially extensive knowledge of Male Sexual Health
• Candidates who come from MSM community are encouraged to apply
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical issues surrounding HIV and Sexual Transmission Infections (STIs), especially with marginalized groups such as men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender populations.
General requirements for all positions:
• Experience and knowledge in health or development programs, preferably in the area of the specific position.
• Ability and enthusiasm to learn new areas and willingness to contribute to a dynamic team.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Vietnamese and English.
• Experience with computers, including word processing, spreadsheets, and the Internet.
• Work experience with NGOs/INGOs is preferred but not mandatory.
