FAMILY HEALTH INTERNATIONAL (FHI) is an international non-governmental organization that works with the Vietnam Ministry of Health, other ministries, provincial health services, and local non-government organizations to promote the health and well-being of the Vietnamese population, particularly vulnerable and disenfranchised groups. FHI is currently building the capacity of local organizations in HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment; clinical research for the development of vaccines and drugs for infectious diseases; tobacco control; and laboratory strengthening.
We are currently seeking qualified, experienced and highly motivated Vietnamese nationals to join FHI/Vietnam for the following positions based in Hochiminh City:
Program Officer – Male Sexual Health
The position will be responsible for supporting the management and implementation of FHI Vietnam Country Program, with focus on Male Sexual Health (MSH) Intervention program and research, as well as coordinating and working with implementing partners/agencies in project design, proposal development, contractual agreement, provision and/or arrangement of monitoring and technical visits and inputs and project evaluation.
Main responsibilities:
• Works directly in the overall MSH intervention program. Participates with the FHI team in developing the annual workplan for the country program and monitoring subproject activities to ensure that MSH interventions and research are timely implemented and complete deliverables in accordance with FHI policies and procedures.
• Provides implementing agencies (IAs) with direct technical assistance and capacity building in the development, implementation and monitoring of MSH interventions and research in Vietnam.
• Coordinates and collaborates with other HIV technical staff for the development and implementation of guidelines, tools and recommendations related to Male Sexual Health issues.
• Work closely with local NGO/INGOs on the implementation of MSH program.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and abilities:
• Bachelor degrees in Public Health, Social Sciences or related fields or equivalent years of experience, PhD or master degree in public health is a plus.
• Three year experience in public health, HIV/AIDS or development programs in Vietnam, especially extensive knowledge of Male Sexual Health
• Candidates who come from MSM community are encouraged and preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical issues surrounding HIV and STIs infection, especially with marginalized groups such as men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender populations.
• Ability and enthusiasm to learn new areas and willingness to contribute to a dynamic team.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Vietnamese and English.
• Experience with computers, including word processing, spreadsheets, and the Internet.
• Work experience with NGOs/INGOs is preferred but not mandatory.
