CARE INTERNATIONAL IN VIETNAM PROJECT MANAGER FOR A RURAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
CARE in Vietnam is a Non-Government Organisation representing the CARE International network. CARE in Vietnam is a creative and dynamic organisation, working with Vietnamese partners in the sectors of health, rural development and disaster mitigation and preparedness.
CARE in Vietnam is looking for an experienced and qualified Vietnamese Project Manager for a Rural Economic Development Project in Thai Nguyen province. The position is based in Hanoi with frequent travel to the province (from 40 % of time) or can be based in the province with regular travel to Hanoi.
Summary of the project: Thai Nguyen Women?s Economic Collaboration for Development (ECCODE) Project is 4 year project focuses on economic collaboration development for ethnic women in 8 communes in Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province through a market based strategy, enabling poor rural women and men to form their own group-based businesses (rice, tea, handicrafts etc) and improving the capacity of local agencies, in particular the Women?s Union and Cooperative Alliance.
Major responsibilities of the Project Manager (PM) position: A senior team leader with experience in fields of participatory community development, business development or agriculture, working in partnership with local agencies and market based businesses. The PM is responsible for leading strategic, sustainable and results based activity design, making the link between economic development and environmental sustainability, supporting access to information, analysis, innovations and value chain approaches, and building local capacity. The PM is also responsible for day-to-day administrative, financial, human resource and programmatic management, monitoring and reporting of the component.
Selection criteria: The successful candidate will demonstrate:
* A relevant degree or Masters and a minimum of 5 years experience in project management in an international organization is required for this position.
* Strong leadership, strategic thinking and ability to achieve project results.
* Knowledge of participatory rural community development processes, business development and working with community based organizations.
* High level of liaison, representational and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively as a team leader.
* Fluent written and oral communication skills (English and Vietnamese).
* Willingness to travel to project areas.
