Wildlife Crime “End Bear Farming” Case Officer
Say “no” to bear bile and help ENV bring an end to bear farming in Vietnam. The ENV Wildlife Crime Unit (WCU) is looking for a dedicated team-member to focus exclusively on bear crimes. Monitor and track bear-related cases, assist in organizing surveys of bear farms, conduct public attitude surveys, and coordinate the ENV provincial pilot monitoring project. An excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and capable candidate.

Basic duties
• Monitor and track bear crimes
• Organize wildlife trade surveys focused on the commercial sale of bear products
• Play a key role in the development and coordination of ENV’s new provincial pilot bear farm monitoring project
• Conduct surveys to evaluate changes in attitudes regarding use of bear bile since the 2004 attitude survey conducted by ENV in Hanoi
• Liaise with government partners on completion of the cross-border bear trade survey in 2008
• Assist ENV’s communications, advertising, and education/awareness programs with bear-related activities and events
• Other duties as needed or required

Requirements
• College degree (preferably in criminal justice, ecology/environment, law, or other related field)
• English language: Strong verbal and written English language skills required.
• Excellent communications skills, confident and outgoing, ability to work closely with others
• Must be able to work independently with limited supervision
• Ability to liaise with government counterparts, police, and customs at the management level

Communication Officer
Positions available
ENV is looking for a Communications Officer who is a charismatic professional to work closely with our national and international senior officers to strengthen our program. An ability to think creatively and develop new ideas and initiatives, and excellent communication and presentation skills are a must. Reporting to the ENV Directors this person would be responsible for leading the activities of the ENV Communications and Membership Department including overseeing the duties of two junior staff. The Communications Officer is responsible for supporting the environmental educators and programs within the ENV’s Family Network through the dissemination of information. She/he promotes the strengthening and growth of ENV through enhancing the organization’s public image and profile and coordinating public awareness activities. The Communications Officer is also involved in helping to grow ENV’s corporate partnerships and memberships program and nurturing existing corporate relationships.

Main duty station: Hanoi

Date of commencement: October 2008

Main responsibilities
• Ensure that the weekly bulletin is produced and distributed
• Manage conservation and environment in the news
• Generate press releases on major events and outputs
• Oversee the production of the monthly report
• Develop and maintain ENV websites
• Manage translation system for news articles
• Coordination of membership events or promotions.
• Media Liaison
• Attend meetings with and liaise with potential and current corporate partners as required.
• Supervision of the duties of the membership assistant and communications assistant
• Assist with other major ENV activities as required

Requirements
• College degree; Prefer environment, journalism and communication-related degree
• English language: Strong verbal and written English language skills required
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, confident and outgoing, ability to work closely with others.
• Experience working in media or as a communications professional
• Some knowledge of environment and conservation issues or an interest in learning about.
• Computer literate (Excel, Word, PowerPoint);
• Familiarity with website management (Dreamweaver), graphic software or a capacity to quickly learn.
• Experience in staff management or ability to lead and show initiative.

Wildlife Crime Case Officer
Stop wildlife crime! Work closely with a highly motivated team of dedicated young professionals to combat wildlife crime. Transfer reports of crimes received on the ENV National Wildlife Crime Hotline to the relevant authorities, monitor and track cases that have been reported, and accurately document the results of closed cases. Highly rewarding and meaningful work for a passionate and enthusiastic young person seeking to make a difference in society.

Basic duties
• Monitor and track wildlife crime cases
• Complete English and Vietnamese language reports summarizing case results
• Answer the ENV Wildlife Crime Hotline telephone
• Participate in wildlife trade surveys, campaigns, and other activities
• Assist ENV’s national Mobile Wildlife Awareness Unit, which tours monthly to different parts of the country conducting activities and events to promote wildlife awareness and discourage wildlife crime
• Other duties as needed or required
