Following the success in 2006, UNESCO Bangkok is pleased to announce a photo contest again this year on the theme of, ?/Promoting Gender Equality in Education/.? This contest is an effort for* *demonstrating ?gender equality in action? through the means of photos for contributing to better understanding of what gender equality /to education, in education and through education /may mean to all of us.
Please find attached herewith the brochure on the photo contest for your advance reference. We would like to invite your country as one of the members of the Gender in Education Network in Asia (GENIA), to participate in this photo contest on the theme of, ? /Promoting Gender equality in Education/.? Further details about the contest can be found in the attached brochure.
We would like to request your help and kind cooperation again in organizing the dissemination of information on the contest and collection of photo entries in your country. While a formal letter of invitation to the photo contest and hard copies of the brochure will be sent to you in due course, please feel free to share this information already, and to translate /adapt the content of the brochure as needed to publicize the contest as you may deem feasible (but please ensure that the contest criteria are not changed).
We are requesting that all photo entries, based on the criteria outlined in the attached brochure, be sent to us by _31 October, 2008_. Judging will take place at UNESCO Bangkok and 12 winning photos will be selected. The winners will be announced in November.
Each winner will receive an official certificate of merit from UNESCO and these 12 photos will be featured in UNESCO Bangkok?s 2009 Gender in education Calendar, which will be widely distributed in the Asia-Pacific Region and beyond to other parts of the world as well. The winning photos will also be featured in the UNESCO Bangkok Newsletter and on our website.
