WWF, one of the world’s largest independent conservation organizations, has a global network active in 96 countries. From its Greater Mekong Country Programme Office in Hanoi, WWF manages a wide array of conservation projects in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Vietnam and Thailand in forest, freshwater and marine/coastal priority area as well as on species conservation.

In Lam Dong, WWF is conducting a project ?Diversifying landscapes and improving livelihoods in two communes in Cat Tien District, Lam Dong Province?. This project will seek to help secure that the communities benefit from the expansion of cashew and cocoa production in Vietnam through a mix of community dialogue and decision making, technical training for production and capacity building of skills for organisation and advocacy. Local agricultural groups of local farmers targeted for training will be identified to act as leaders to introduce these improved practices into the area, in order to develop cashew and cocoa in a way which improves the productivity of the crop and promotes sustainable development.

WWF Vietnam Country Programme is seeking for experienced and qualified Vietnamese national candidates to fill the position AGRONOMIST and BUSINESS AND LIVELIHOODS PLANNER (based in Lam Dong province):

1. AGRONOMIST

Main responsibilities:
The agronomist will report to Program Manager. He/She is responsible for :
– Participate in the land use planning process
– Responsible for the introduction of better management practices for cashew production and for the introduction of viable agro-forestry systems
– Train extension workers on technical agronomist skills
– Organize environmental campaigns

Qualifications and Experience:
– University degree in agronomic or related fields.
– At least 6 year working experiences with rural development issues
– In depth knowledge of cashew and agro-forestry systems
– Independent, interpersonal skills, patient and with a participatory approach
– Good facilitator and communicator
– Fluency in written and spoken Vietnamese and English
– Familiarity with the project area and local residence will be an asset

2. BUSINESS AND LIVELIHOODS PLANNER

Main responsibilities:
The field project coordinator will report to Program Manager. He/She is responsible for :
– Elaborate of surveys related to land use planning and market chain assessments etc
– Facilitate workshops on business plan elaboration and on commercialization in their concrete settings
– Facilitate farmer access to capital via loans
– Train extension workers on participatory approaches
– Organize study tours
– Facilitate the organizational strengthening of local farmers groups and the strengthening of their advocacy skills

Qualifications and Experience:
– University or higher degree in environment, business, economics or related fields.
– At least 8 years working experience in similar position
– Fluency in written and spoken Vietnamese and English
– In depth knowledge of cashew and agro-forestry systems
– Independent, interpersonal skills, patient and with a participatory approach
– Good facilitator and communicator
– Fluency in written and spoken Vietnamese and English
– Familiarity with the project area and local residence will be an asset
