Career Opportunity: Research and Public Affairs Officer
AusAID is the Australian Government agency responsible for managing Australia’s overseas aid program (http://www.ausaid.gov.au/). The objective of the aid program is to assist developing countries reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development, in line with Australia’s national interest. In 2007/08, the Australian Government will provide an estimated AUD$90.8 million to Vietnam in official development assistance.
AusAID is seeking a dynamic and talented Vietnamese national for the position of Research and Public Affairs Officer to support the research of economic, social, cultural and environmental development issues in Vietnam and to raise awareness of the Australian Development Cooperation Program in Vietnam.
The successful candidate will have the following credentials:
– A university degree or equivalent in a communication or related field;
– Excellent research, communication and presentation skills;
– Excellent English and Vietnamese writing and language skills;
– Ability to think strategically and innovatively about research, public affairs and communications;
– Good computer operation and IT skills;
– Ability to work flexible hours and under pressure;
– Good conceptual and analytical skills;
– A minimum of five years of experience in a research or public affairs position. Familiarization with Vietnam?s economic, social cultural and environmental situation and media system and a good knowledge of Australia and Australia?s involvement in Vietnam would be an advantage
The Research and Public Affairs Officer is a long term position and will be based in the Australian Embassy in Hanoi, subject to a probationary period. The successful candidate must be willing to travel nationally and internationally from time to time.
