IUCN Vietnam Country Office in Hanoi is seeking a motivated high calibre professional for the position of Senior Technical Officer. This position will play a central role in the leadership of the technical programmes of the IUCN Vietnam Country Programme.
The Senior Technical Officer will work with the Programme Coordination Unit of IUCN Vietnam and will be responsible for the following activities:
PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT, IMPLEMENTATION AND REVIEW
Maintain an overview of technical programs and projects of IUCN ? Vietnam and provide guidance to the technical programme coordinators on strategic direction of programme and the implementation of program activities. Lead and participate in project identification, project development and the provision of technical guidance to partners.
TECHNICAL COORDINATION
– Ensure that an adequate, efficient and quality technical programme coordination process is maintained within IUCN Vietnam Country Programme. Provide technical guidance in the development of strategic and programme workplans and to ensure the integration of programme activities within the IUCN Vietnam- Country Program Office.
NETWORKING, PROGRAMME BUILDING, AND COMMUNICATIONS
– Provide inputs into the development of strategic communication activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate should posses a minimum of 10 years of professional experience and appropriate degree in a subject related to natural resources management and / or policy and planning. High quality managerial, interpersonal and team building skills are required with practical experience from project and program implementation in Vietnam.
Experience in relation with all aspects of the project cycle is important for this position. In particular the applicants should be able to work under pressure and have extensive work experience in a variety of field settings in Vietnam. Fluency in written and spoken English and Vietnamese, computer literacy, cultural awareness and sensitivity to gender issues are necessary.
The initial contract will be for a period of one year, with a view to a long-term commitment from IUCN- Vietnam. This position is suited for Vietnamese nationals.
