AFC Consultants International, a consulting company based in the city of Bonn, Germany, as partner of a German consortium, has been shortlisted by GTZ to submit an offer for the Natural Resource Management in Dak Nong Province in Vietnam.
The project is to test sustainable natural resource management approaches in the Cu Jut and Dak Song districts of Dak Nong province, and disseminate the results for province-wide replication. Furthermore, the project is to assist in the improvement of resource allocation procedures to alleviate poverty within the province. Duration of the project will be 36 months, beginning in February 2008, the project directly supports the Vietnamese “Comprehensive Poverty Reduction and Growth Strategy”.
The objective is defined as follows: ?Models and innovations for local participation in development planning, needs-oriented resource allocation and better service provision in community based forest management and upland farming have been developed, introduced and the province wide replication of successfully tested models has been decided by the provincial authorities.?
To achieve the above objective, new land use planning and land allocation methods as well as market-oriented innovations in agriculture and forestry will be introduced in the above mentioned districts. These new methods shall promote the efficiency of governmental development aid, particularly for ethnic minorities. In addition, best practices and guidelines for province-wide application will be formulated.
In this context, we would like to place four listings for opportunities:
1. Team Leader:
* Knowledge and practical experience in integrated rural development and poverty reduction
* Knowledge and experience in participatory local planning procedures and decentralized development planning
* Practical experience in community based forestry, land use planning and in supporting decentralisation processes in Vietnam or SE Asia
* Competence and experience in design and implementing capacity development measures
* Competence and experience in strategy development and process oriented advisory services
* Professional background: General Rural Development, Agricultural Economics, Forestry, or related field, min 10 years experience;
* Experience as team leader in projects or feasibility studies, preferably long term experience in GTZ projects;
* In-depth experience in procedures of knowledge management and dissemination;
* Experience in market development approaches; and
* Experience in leading teams, excellent communication skills;
* Excellent English, spoken and written;
* Regional experience in South East Asia; and
* Vietnam experience is an advantage.
2. Young Professional:
* Knowledge and practical experience in upland agriculture, agroforestry, value chain approach, monitoring,
* Professional background in agriculture, rural development or related fields,
* In-depth experience in procedures of knowledge management and dissemination;
* Experience in market development (value chain) approaches;
* Good communication skills;
* Excellent English, spoken and written;
* Regional experience in South East Asia; and
* Vietnam experience is an advantage.
3. Three Vietnamese long term experts:
* Knowledge and practical experience in training, monitoring, and coordination with stakeholders;
